Lesson 3 Cloud Computing
The lesson 3 of ADET discussion focuses on cloud computing.
For this discussion the lesson covered up to seven topic but only four discussed since the remaining was more specific on Amazon.
1. Why Cloud Computing?
2. What is Cloud Computing?
3. Types of Cloud Computing
4. Cloud Providers
5. Lifecycle of a Cloud Computing Solution
6. Cloud Computing with AWS
7. Demo – AWS EC2 and AWS S3
For this discussion the lesson covered up to seven topic but only four discussed since the remaining was more specific on Amazon.
On this topic our professor showed us the difference between on-premise and cloud computing and why it is prefer to use cloud computing ather than on-premise.
Here's a good example: On-premise doesn't have automatic update while cloud computing has a automatic software update. Although cloud computing are grate, it also has a cons, like if you lose internet connection you can't accessed to it and there was an issue about data privacy. Cloud computing is very usefull since we can use it at home because it can be access through internet.
Cloud computing is the on-demand online distribution of computing resources on a pay-as-you-go basis. Insteadof local storage with the help of cloud computing in will be able to save file on the internet.
Two types of cloud computing
1. Deployment model - can either be save as a private cloud public cloud or hybrid cloud. By comparing this three on a transportation vehicle by our professor it make more easy to understand the difference between this 3 deployment model. Owning a private cloud which cause a higher price will give an access to that single person only while public cloud is the opposite and the hybrid cloud is the combination of both public and hybrid cloud
2. Service model - Cloud computing is offered in three different service models which each satisfy a unique set of business requirements. These three models are known as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The professor explain the difference between PaaS, SaaS, IaaS using a baking a cake as an example
Lastly is the Cloude providers the common and mention by our professor are Amazon, Microsoft, IBM cloud, vmware Google cloud. This are some that manage and provide service for cloud computing.
